Hello Friends,
Ben and I are alive and well amidst Cairo’s unusually hot and humid weather. Youth group is well underway and we’ve really been enjoying the kids. During youth group we’ve been playing games, discussing topics that the kids have suggested, and also just hanging out. Ben has been enjoying his role during the services on Friday mornings too. He now sits, in a robe up front as a liturgist. He has especially enjoyed writing the prayers for the people and assisting in the serving of communion. Ben is looking forward to preaching about once a month, beginning with his first sermon on October 2nd.
Ben and I have both been studying Arabic. We have been studying twice a week with a tutor. The rewards have definitely been worth the pain so far. I’ve been able to order my vegetables in Arabic, which brings a smile to the face of those selling to me.
In the last couple of weeks I have applied and interviewed for a job at the U.S. embassy in their health clinic. I am anxiously awaiting news from them. I have had nothing but positive feedback thus far. In the meantime I was able to work at the American school down the road last week, helping with their yearly screenings. It was fun to remember how much I enjoy being around children.
Aside from the plants that now grace us with their presence in our home, not much else is new here. Thanks for your support and prayers.
Emily
